Pokemon Invade Google Maps For April Fool’s Day

Reading the web is always a challenge around April 1st. Many companies have a legacy of creating fictitious posts to try and play a joke on the world. Several years ago, Google made an 8-bit themed version of Google Maps. This year, they have returned to a Nintendo theme by introducing the Google Maps Pokemon Challenge.

While the video mentions iPhone and Android phones, if you happen to have a iOS or Android tablet, you can still use the latest version of the Google Maps program to participate. To start the game, just load the application, click in the search box and then touch the start button that appears. Sadly, the actual game in the Google Maps app is only available until April 2nd at 2am to play. Click through to see some screen shots from my iPad of what the challenge looks like.
